One thing that's been bothering me a bit lately is the use of the word "people" when we specifically mean "men." However, when discussing "women" we tend to stick to that distinction and almost never use the more generic "people."  Have you noticed this? I have. It's a problem, particularly when you believe women are people.

Ready for some fem-rage to rev up your morning? Okay. Let's do this thing. :) First, today's video. More Wonder Woman. Because Wonder Woman.
Entertainment/Literary: Did Arya Just Hand #NoConfederate More Ammo This Week? And The Last Surviving Sea Silk Seamstress. Then Zoë Quinn tells her story. I'm so reading that book. If you don't think her story is important, perhaps you should understand that there is a direct connection between GamerGate, Steve Bannon, and the current administration. Next, How Get Out Inspired a New College Course on Racism and Horror. Tananarive Due is amazing and you should follow her work. The female director who was issued a fatwa for her first film.

General: MISSOURI VOTES TO LET EMPLOYERS FIRE PEOPLE WHO USE BIRTH CONTROL. Holy crap. That hot mess. On travel and medical devices--Please Step Aside, Sir. Also, Being A Good Ally Means Not Expecting A Reward has some great points and so does 10 Ways White People Can Stop Annoying People of Color on Social Media. Misogyny Against Black and Brown Women and Femmes is still Celebrated. Why I don't like Bernie Sanders goes into the many reasons Sanders disturbs me. Pair that up with: I’m Not Going to Be Nice About this Shit. Next, one of the many examples of why I feel Republicans are actively bad for women. Broward County GOP secretary split a female classmate's skull with over 40 claw-hammer blows. How can you represent 50% of the population when you elect men like that? Dad’s ‘Rules’ For Dating His Daughters Have A Refreshing Twist. And it's official: Viking warrior found in Sweden was a woman, researchers confirm. That changes the standard view of vikings a bit, doesn't it? Although, I won't go so far as to agree with the stupid idea that vikings were "just out to get husbands" as at least one historian has said. (You're in a land filled with men, why on earth would you go to all the trouble and danger just to find a non-viking husband and then live far far away from your family? Why participate in a raid to get married?) Anyway, it's a glaring example of sexism in the sciences. Next, that glaring moment when one's financial class directly affects one's ability to survive. Often, we see this in the case of medical procedures. However, it's rare that anyone points out that there are financial reasons why people don't evacuate. We can’t leave Florida, but we can’t stay either. Help us! The next link goes to a lengthy piece well worth reading. The First White President. I've long thought that Trump and the GOP don't actually think of their actions as "we're here to hurt the middle class and poor." They're too short-sighted for that. The Republican Party's entire purpose is related to white supremacy. They are reacting to the reality that we had a black president. They're attempting to erase Obama from America's history by undoing every single act he committed and they don't care who they hurt in the process. It explains why they're so single-minded about removing Obamacare even though the American people clearly don't want it touched. It's why Trump signs whatever executive order without understanding the impact. It isn't only that he's stupid and doesn't know what he's doing. (Although, this is true.) He's a white supremacist, is stupid, and doesn't know what he's doing. Hookworm, a disease of extreme poverty, is thriving in the US south. Why? And What the Utah Good-Nurse, Bad-Cop Video Says About Medical Privacy. Lastly, Men who want to fight sexism at work: Read Sheryl Sandberg’s blunt advice.

Trigger warning: The problem with how men perceive rape.
