I overslept a bit today. Went to the Stevie Nicks/Pretenders concert last night, and it went late. (It was AMAZING for the record. Seriously. Magical. So glad I got to go. Stevie told stories and laughed and sang and told more stories. More on that later.) Anyway, you're here for Feminist stuff and your Monday morning righteous rage. So, here goes. :)

Today's Videos:
And now, those links.
Literary/Entertainment: I've already linked to this one on FB but I wanted to link to it again BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME. New Wonder Woman Trailer Shows How the Girl Became a Legend. (Pleasedon'tsuckPleasedon'tsuckPleasedon'tsuck.) I usually hide in my house during the weeks of SXSW, but this is something I really want to see: The Handmaid’s Tale Invades SXSW, and Margaret Atwood Reflects on Its Meaning Under Trump. In related news: MARGARET ATWOOD ON WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WATCH HER OWN DYSTOPIA COME TRUE. Also: SXSW: Women Director Interviews - Films Premiering March 12th! A friend sent this next link, I'd like to make a request. An Iron Maiden... but with hands instead of spikes. Think about it. Kim Gordon is one of my heroes (along with Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith, and Joan Jett), still. This is why. Kim Gordon Is The Ultimate Style Goals In These Stunning Photos. From author Ellen Oh's Tumbler, collected celebrity tweets about trans rights. Today, we have a bonus image from Heidi Heilig, Alyssa Wong, and Alliette de Bodard. I'll title it "What not to do in your fantasy novel."

I hope everyone sees the problem with this?[1] Note: there are characters who talk like this in my next novel. They also are obsessed with lineage, purity, and "blood." I did this on purpose. They are not the good guys. This shit is racist as fuck. It always has been. Yes, even in your Fantasy or D&D world. Next, Anthony Head talks about Buffy. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a feminist parable for everyone – including me. And lastly, Science Fiction, Afrofuturism and How African-Americans Are Creating Their Own Deep Space.
General: Gavin Grimm Is a Transgender Teen Hero—And He’s Just Getting Started. And Here's How the War on Women Could Land in the Supreme Court. You know what, men? If you're going to whine about having to pay for women's birth control, then I vote women don't have to pay for your hard-on pills. The original statement that is the source for our next story pisses me off no end. Laziness isn’t why people are poor. And iPhones aren’t why they lack health care. I had cancer. I can tell you for a fact that cancer costs far, far more than an iPhone. FOR. YEARS. A single visit to the oncologist is over $100, and that's just to have them talk to you for a few moments and tell you your blood tests are clear. That doesn't count the surgery, meds, yearly imaging (sometimes more than yearly) and so on. We're talking about numbers in the neighborhood of six figures, all told. If you think this is the same fucking price as an iPhone, I WANT TO SEE THAT FUCKING IPHONE AND IT BETTER HAD BE STUFFED WITH A MASSIVE AI THAT CAN CREATE WORLD PEACE. Fuck that Prosperity Morality Myth. Fuck it up the ass. It was used in Charles Dicken's day to excuse abhorrent behavior toward the poor, sick, and homeless. This shit has been around forever. We know it's evil. So wake the fuck up. Why I Don’t Believe Trump’s International Women’s Day Tweet. Filed under "Good Riddance. You have no business practicing law": Judge resigns over rape trial comment: ‘Why couldn’t you just keep your knees together?’ And I’m Not Your Pretty Little Lotus Flower. And What Happened When A Man Signed Work Emails Using A Female Name For 2 Weeks. No shit.

[1] This also reminds me of when I was researching Irish history and came upon a legitimate non-fiction history book claiming that the reason why the Celts in Ireland were successfully subjugated by the English was because they failed to unify under one King. Yeah. Because those boatloads of invading soldiers y'all sent didn't have a thing to do with it. [snort]
