Good morning, y'all. Ready for some rage to pump that sluggish blood through your barely conscious system? Strap in, darlings. Here we go!

Today's first video just makes me giggle because...yeah:
And now...Tempest tells it like it is:
I loved that show in spite of the historical crazy. The entire reason I was watching was the friendship between Abby and Crane. I loved the fact that Abby was a POC woman, a main POV character no less, who did not exist to be the romantic interest. She was her own person. She was a partner, an equal. That meant so much to me and I'm not even a person of color. The Entertainment Weekly interview regarding the show spurred even more fury. Yeah. That. Stay classy, Fox.
Literary/Entertainment: New research has uncovered a disturbing trend about female characters in Disney movies. I've argued with Skiffy and Fanty's Shaun Duke about what the data really means. He feels the songs should be included in the tally. I don't think it would make a difference. (The older films use the same "song as dialog" technique, and I don't think they used less music than the modern films.) The study still indicates a huge bias. And next up on "Not just no, but FUCK NO! WHAT THE FUCK IS FUCKING WRONG WITH YOU?!" population this: Thomas Jefferson spent years raping his slave Sally Hemings. A new novel treats their relationship as a love story. First it was a 'romance' between a Nazi prison camp guard and a Jewish prisoner. Now this? That's an indication of some seriously messed up thinking. America, let's just admit that our Founding Fathers weren't fucking Saints already. M'kay? And John Scalzi: And Now, an Incomplete List of Women Writers Who Inspire Me. Jon Stewart refused to play a stormtrooper in The Force Awakens. Yeah. Go figure. And a new Kickstarter: Strange Monsters: a Music & Words Collaboration.

General: This first link is tangentially about North Carolina and its horrendous new anti-LGBT bathroom law. Unfortunately, there are many people/businesses which are getting caught in the middle of the resulting boycott. Let me just say, I am in favor of this boycott. Dear Assholes, you've been using the bathroom with trans persons since forever, and there's not been a problem. Stop with the fear-tactics already. You're freaking out over trans people using the restroom--a situation in which no child has died--and yet, are completely unwilling to do a damned thing about white dudes gunning down children in schools? Perhaps you need to get some priorities sorted? However, I feel this bookstore does need our support. Boycotts can be tailored and should be. The ‘Human Computer’ Behind the Moon Landing Was a Black Woman. I did not know this. Why the fuck isn't her name plastered everywhere?! Oh, yeah. [angry, toothy grimace] Can We Wait 88 Years to End Mass Incarceration? I feel the answer to that question is a resounding NO. The damage this crap has done to communities of color is beyond disproportionate when compared to white communities. Have you had an abortion? Missouri Republicans want to know. Planned Parenthood official could be arrested for not turning over names. I absolutely feel that the Republicans are using abortion as a means of distracting Americans from the real issues: the economy, the ridiculously out of balance distribution of wealth, unemployment, Climate Change, Wall Street corruption, Banking corruption, and their utter fucking lack of giving a damn. That said, it's none of their damned business who had an abortion. Hey! I got an idea! How about we talk about which of you guys has hidden money via Panama (or Delaware) instead? Yeah. I didn't think so. ADHD Is Different for Women. And this one was passed along to me by my friend, Brian in Belfast: The Experience Of Women In The IRA And UVF. (Saving that for later.) America's Most Convenient Bank® refuses to serve Christians. Yeah. That. Thinking They’re ‘Unqualified’ Is A Big Reason More Women Don’t Run For Office. 9-year-old reporter breaks crime news, posts videos, fires back at critics. And this next one is from Kari Sperring: Oops! Etruscan Warrior Prince Really a [Warrior] Princess. FFS, y'all. How many times are you going to make that mistake? The backpedalling re:whether or not she's a warrior vs. "It's just bling." is sexist too. Maybe you should just be single. From my friend, Christian: Brewery owner boots sexist customer, unleashes must-read rant about women in the service industry. Teaching Men to Be Emotionally Honest. I could go on at length about how I feel hyper-masculinity is toxic to men, and how misogyny screws with boys from the time they're born.[1] Why do white people insist race doesn't matter? What’s it mean to be white? Top Infrastructure Official Explains How America Used Highways To Destroy Black Neighborhoods. Things My Male Tech Colleagues Have Actually Said to Me, Annotated.

Trigger Warning: Brandon University sexual assault victims forced to sign contract that keeps them silent.

[1] Studies have shown that boy babies are handled less carefully and less gently. Also, I find it interesting that males are told they're practically invincible in every way and no one seems to have put this together with boys being accident prone. Nah. That can't be connected! Girls are just born more cautious and careful about risk-taking. It's the male hormones. It can't possibly be that we encourage males to be careless. Or...can it?
